European Immunization Week Kicks Off in Tajikistan

27-04-2021, 12:30.
A round table in honor of the launch of the European Immunization Week in Tajikistan was held in Dushanbe with the participation of officials from the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population, the World Health Organization Country Office and the UNICEF Office.

Its main goal is to raise public awareness of the importance of immunization in terms of maintaining public health.

Tajikistan signed the Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1991 and pledged to protect the health of children since 1993. The republic has become an equal member of WHO and, with the support of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United States Agency for International Development and other donors, is implementing plans and strategies to eradicate infectious diseases controlled by immunization.

Additionally, the government adopted a Resolution On the National Program of Immunoprophylaxis in Tajikistan for 2021-2025, which is aimed at improving the immunization system in the country.

From April 26 through May 2, the countries of the Regional Office for Europe are holding European Immunization Week.
